The Best hours of day!

The Best hours of day!

What is habit? Habit is something that you start doing subconsciously and automatically like a routine work without pushing yourself for it. So, other than routine work and professional commitments, what are your productive habits?

Whatever it is, have you ever noticed, how hard have you pushed yourself to start it? How much efforts did you put in to sustain it? And how much time will it take to disappear?

I was good in studies and also enjoyed sports till class 8th. But then outdoor games vanished, I didn’t miss them either. I did graduation, post graduation and 5 more years passed by. After becoming the mother of two, I sensed drastic decrease in my physical strength. I tried really hard to start morning walk but couldn’t. Starting from lack of time to searching company, the list of procrastination is long. Corona worked as butter on bread.

One fine day, while playing pakadam pakdai, my 6 year old son made me breathless. That was alarming for me. So I started morning walk. I was able to walk for kilometers but couldn’t run for even 100 meters at a time. Ten more months passed and I did nothing but morning walk. I knew very well that it takes years to inculcate a good habit and I had experienced it very closely. Although no time is bad to start a good thing but earlier it’s done, higher will be the rewards. As I always sensed lack of drive in myself for exercise, yoga and meditation, I was sure to expose my kids to sports as much as I could and earliest possible.

In July 2021, I visited the stadium for the first time to get my son admitted in any game and he started with Table Tennis. I had a nominal exam in September and with that reason, I spent 70 more days. One day I visited the athletic track accidently. While walking, I observed a group of people with special abilities doing different activities. Blinds were running holding hands of deaf and dumb, following the sound; they practiced long jump, standing at a point, they did weight lifting, yoga and few aasans.

I sensed something magical in them, the ability to: see the world with closed eyes, enjoy nature with skin touch, sense every sunrise with its warmth, talk heart to heart and soul to soul, worship the body/special senses they have, celebrate each morning magnificently, and acknowledge whatever they have. They were in no hurry. As if they were born to do what they were doing.

I felt guilty. That guilt took my physical exhaustion and gave me the mental strength. I started with 2 rounds (450 meter each) of running in November 2021 and increased it to 5 gradually. Over the time, I also joined Table tennis and Lawn Tennis with my son. I never played either of them before.

You must have heard that learning has no age limitation. You can learn at anytime you want. I will call myself a live example of it. I am experiencing, living and loving it. And now I know many others like me. I have met amazing people in stadium who started running or playing after retirement. I respect them, bow to their determination and learn from them silently. Lack of time is just a lame excuse, actual problem is lack of determination and consistency.

In my case, people with special abilities started the spark and the so called senior citizens (just by age), are acting as fuel to keep me burning. People also say, you become what your company is. If you want to stay young, choose that group, living with old people will also make you feel so. That’s a half cooked truth. We all have seen youngsters full of frustration and excuses, burdened with responsibilities and always in hurry. We also know senior citizens full of life, at peace and satisfied. So it depends on you, what you choose while living in their company, what you learn from their experiences and reflect in your life.

Now I wake up early morning, read/write for 30 minutes, water my plants, visit stadium/garden, run, witness n enjoy sun rise for 5 minutes, play, eat healthy and plan my day to avoid chaos. I do visit stadium in evening hours but that’s exclusively for my kids.

These early morning hours give me the reasons to love life, positive energy for the rest of the day, satisfaction of being able to do what I want to do for my kids, hope for a better tomorrow and teach me to forget about everything and being present in Present.

As I have read somewhere, reading does same to mind, what exercises do to body. Mostly It is used to encourage reading but I would use it the other way round “EXERCISE DOES SAME TO BODY WHAT READING DOES TO MIND”. So keep reading and running.

Well, what’s your best time of the day (other than sleeping of course!).
