Greetings to everyone!
We, humans, are the most stupendous and sophisticated creatures. Doctors are the league of elite people in the society and I belong to this league ??.
Let’s start: in simplified words; a Doctor- means an individual who is competent to treat sick people.
Here I will share my experiences of being a doctor with all of you. Some of you will agree with me while others do not- a universal phenomenon because we all have different opinions and perspectives of thinking.
There are some questions in my mind ??——
1. In our Society who becomes a doctor?
2. How and Why does one choose this profession?
3. How many years it would take to become a doctor?
4. After entering this field what are the expectations of society from a doctor and vice versa?
Let’s discuss—- only 1st and 2nd questions answer here:
In correspondent to Indian society- those students who score above 90% in their secondary examinations may pursue their career in medical or engineering studies or those children whose parents are doctors can also go in medical profession ??.
Usually millions of students dream about being a doctor, but the reasons may be different for medical aspirants. Some desire to lay out medical services to the poor or underprivileged ones in rural areas, some want to earn the respect that comes with the label ‘doctor’ while others see it as an excellent opportunity and a symbol of success. According to me; there are many reasons to choose this noble profession—
A]. India/ world necessitate more doctors - India’s estimated population is around 1.30 billion where health care system is still struggling with various issues regarding the low number of institutions and less Human resources. Here; doctor to population ratio is around 1.34:1000 in 2017– exhibiting shortage. So by choosing this profession; we can help in making this world a better place by giving our medical services.
B]. If u love challenges in life, love science and have a thirsty mind- If u are passionate about science, find out human body enthralling, don’t want monotonous life in the profession and like challenges in life every day then the medical profession is the only answer. Here as a doctor u daily meets with new patients with different kind of diseases; sometimes rare ones. So every day u need to refresh your knowledge to treat such types of patients; hence there is no set of tasks.
C]. Doctors are second only to God- An immense statement: Isn’t it? ?? Doctors save several lives, alleviate suffering and help people to return to their normal lives. During the time of health crisis looking into the present scenario of covid 19:- there are two things people lookup in hope of life- God and Doctor.
D]. Honour, respect, and happiness- By treating and saving the life of someone who is having a life-threatening disease, returning back the smile to ill faces, and in return receiving respect from them is an overwhelming feeling. This provides satisfaction and happiness which is beyond words.
E]. Doctors are a federation of elite people with good networking and socialization- In the Medical profession doctors meet many people in their day-to-day life to cure them and patients always remember their treating person. So here is the continuous growth of networks with better socialization making them elite in society in terms of the ability to cure.
F]. You are always a Teacher as well as life long learner- It’s incredibly rewarding because you can give training to each new generation of doctors. There is much need to know about different diseases occurring in the human body, inventing new drugs and their effects on the human body. Thus there is continuous learning in the medical profession.
But medical aspirants who want to become a doctor- always need self-motivation and unshakable reasons for pursuing a career in medicine that should come from within. Everything comes with a price- the better it is; the costlier it is. It takes a long time and sometimes it’s too much stress as there is a work-life imbalance as the medical profession takes over time from your personal life.
No matter how society & our life are going to change, there will always be a requirement for doctors. So if you are a person that thrives in a hard-working environment, desire to help humanity, strong belief system, needs unique experiences in life then becoming a doctor is a great career path.
However, in every professional success can be achieved by a positive attitude and being passionate about that.
